Woodens Road Residence – Contribution

07/31/2012: Thanks to Linda Blocher for sending in some of her family’s paranormal experiences at a former schoolhouse where they once lived in Darke County. Linda said she was once following what she thought was her husband up the stairs only to find no one upstairs when she reached the top of the staircase. Linda’s daughter once saw a woman standing in the doorway, brushing her hair and her husband once saw a woman dressed in Civil War era clothing in an upstairs window when he was a child.

The home used to be a schoolhouse. Nearly every night after turning off the lights and going to bed, a thud would be heard from the basement. One day I followed someone (who I thought was my husband) up the stairs, but when I got to the top of the stairs, no one was there. He had been in the bathroom the whole time. I remember seeing work boots going up in front of me, but did not look up, for some reason, as I climbed the stairs. My daughter was jumping on the bed, and saw a woman standing in the doorway, brushing her hair. Then she faded away. When my husband was 12 (he was mowing grass), he saw a woman dressed in Civil War era clothes watching him from the upstairs window. She had a bewildered look on her face. The inside corner of the house that faces the highway is always cold. One stormy day, both the screen door and the wooden door came open and slammed shut, remaining locked! Both my husband and myself have gotten hopelessly lost in the basement, after locking ourselves out. We attempted to come in, through the outside basement. Many more experiences through my 13 years there…
