The OES visited the Concord United Methodist Cemetery on May 7, 2001. We had been to the cemetery previously to take photos of the church northwest of the cemetery. Founded in 1849, most of the tombstones in the cemetery were in fairly good condition, although some were weathered. The tombstone of Elma Beavers was perhaps the oldest standing in the cemetery, as she died in April 1849, which is the same year the cemetery was established. The cemetery also contained burials of veterans of the Civil War. A newer section of the cemetery was located on the other side of a small creek and was still in use.
